I just finished reading (again) Mary K. Baxter’s A Divine Revelation of Heaven and A Divine Revelation of Hell. I cannot
read these books without feeling compelled to take time and to reflect on my
eternal destination and the implications of living my life for God or simply ignoring
His existence.
These days I ponder deeply about the times we live in and my
future in the light of eternity. (Maybe because the birthdays keep adding up—no
matter how I try to stave them off!) Seriously though, times are uncertain and
to ignore eternal matters is foolhardy at best.
Jesus said, “Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye
may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and
to stand before the Son of man.” (Luke 21:36) Said another way it's, pay attention to what’s around you, and
pray all the time!
I feel heaven closer than it has ever been. And a
revival. And persecution of the church. To everyone, I implore you in the name
of Jesus, Be ready. Heaven awaits.
